PLACES NOT TO BE MISSED

Let the beauty and charm of our little wonders and the poetry of our good old town, with its... its old basin, with its special character, which inspired so many painters.

At nightfall, the lights of the houses are reflected in the water...; its Quai Sainte-Catherine, with its tall, narrow, slate-clad houses, tangled up against each other...; its Church Sainte-Catherine (15th century), a unique masterpiece in France, built entirely of wood. Do not miss its picturesque bell tower, separate from and facing the church; its Lieutenance, located on the old basin and former residence of the King's lieutenant, was the starting point for Samuel Champlain's conquest of Quebec... Its Saint-Léonard church, with its octagonal bell tower with bas-reliefs representing musical instruments.

In the nave, a magnificent décor painted by Krug; his Côte de Grâce, on the heights... Superb panorama of the Seine estuary and the Pont de Normandie. Its adorable chapel "Notre-Dame-de-Grâce" where many ex-voto are displayed... The pilgrimage and blessing of our sailors every Pentecost weekend...; its Maison de Satie, evokes the musician, born in this place, through an original scenographic tour. The Eugène Boudin Museum, the avant-garde of Impressionism. It was at the Saint-Siméon farm that Eugène Boudin and his friends (Jongking, Monet, Courbet, Sisley, etc.) founded the "Saint-Siméon School"...; its Musée de la Marine, in the tiny Saint-Etienne church (on the old dock).

At the time, they were used to store herring and cod and have become magnificent venues for exhibitions, concerts, shows and festivals...; its Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art, nestled in the old prisons and in a very pretty alleyway...; its garden of personalities, a bucolic and cultural walk... You will be able to converse with our many Honfleur personalities: Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet, Erik Satie, Charles Beaudelaire, Samuel Champlain, Lucie Delarue-Mardrus, Françoise Sagan, Michel Serrault and so many others...; its Naturospace, a reconstitution of the ecosystem of a forest under a greenhouse, home to various species of birds and butterflies.... ; its Carroussel, and its pretty wooden horses, turn the heads of children and adults from May to October... ; its Butin beach, our only beach in Honfleur located at the entrance to the town, following the garden of personalities.
